WhatsApp releases new 'Accidental Delete' feature

WhatsApp has announced a new ‘Accidental Delete’ feature, according to a tweet by the Head of WhatsApp, Will Cathcart.

The Meta-owned messaging platform will now let users reverse their options when they accidentally click on ‘Delete for me’ instead of ‘Delete for Everyone’, which can leave you embarrassed, especially when you do not want the recipient to see the said message.

The new ‘Accidental Delete’ feature will allow users to bring back a deleted message within a 5-second window and click on ‘Delete for Everyone’. The feature works in both individual and group chats on iPhone and Android devices.

Last month, the messaging platform announced the launch of a new ‘Message Yourself’ feature in India. A 1:1 chat with yourself to send notes, reminders and updates. With this feature, users can send notes, reminders, shopping lists and other things to themselves in order to manage their to-do lists on WhatsApp.

Recently, WhatsApp also added a new avatar feature to the messaging platform. Users can now use their personalised avatars as profile photos or choose from one of 36 custom stickers reflecting many different emotions and actions.
