Federal Government Encourages Agencies to Address IT Challenges

The Federal Government has urged leaders of information and communication technology agencies and professionals in the sector to formulate a robust standard framework for IT solutions that will benefit the government, private sector, and society. The statement, issued by Ekaete Umo, Head of the Press and Public Relations Unit of the ministry, emphasized the call made by Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, during the National Council on ICT in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies held in Abuja on Monday.

Dr. Tijani, in his keynote address, highlighted the pivotal role of technology as the foundation of economic competitiveness and its capacity to address various societal challenges. He stressed, “Any government without technology and without prioritizing the applications of technology cannot provide service to its people in an effective way.”

The minister emphasized the interdependence of government and the private sector on technology, asserting that without appropriate technological utilization by the government, the private sector’s optimal functioning would be hindered. Dr. Tijani urged council members to recognize the critical roles they play in their respective organizations, emphasizing that the future success of Nigeria and the realization of a better country depend on their contributions.

Dr. Tijani revealed that the president’s vision is for a developed Nigeria with inclusive growth, emphasizing that the effectiveness of various ministries, including ICT, is crucial to achieving this vision. He called on ICT leaders to understand their roles as drivers of progress for the country and its ministries.
